Peach Crepe Anyone?

Greetings!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and didn't miss me too much! :) 

This week I thought I'd add some color to my nails since I've been wearing so many dark colors lately.  I used China Glaze in Vintage Crepe and Sally Hansen Diamond Strength in Peach Pave.  Really simple and feminine, I like the way it turned out.  What do you think?

You can see that my China Glaze bottle is a mini size, I ordered a pack that came with a full collection, what collection, I don't remember but I'm pretty sure it is not limited edition.  If you can find this color you should snatch it up because it is one of those effortless colors that look super pretty on long or short nails.

I love what the Peach Pave does to the color, adds that glamour that we sometimes need during the week!  :)

Gunmetal.....On Your Nails!

Keeping in tune with the weather I figured I'd go with a gray/silver color on my nails this week.  The forecast predicts rain all week on my side of the U.S. and I might as well paint my nails accordingly, lol.  This color is in Gunmetal by, you guessed it, Sally Hansen!  If you don't know by now, please be informed that this line of polishes are my favorite and there's nothing you can do about that! :) 

I also think that this color is great for the fall months.  An edgy color to wear with your "all black everything" days.  Oh, and remember, dark colors look awesome on short nails!  You didn't know?  You betta' ask somebody!

Wine Not? Why Wouldn't You?

I hope all is well with you all and that your week is going by just as fast as the spring weather.  Is it just me or has summer just pushed spring aside to get ALL the attention?!  I'm saying, this heat is ridiculous!  So why not indulge in the richness of the weather and add a little nostalgic red to your nails?  That's why I did!

Today I bring you Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Wine Not, a deep red color that is typically more fall ready but can be worn year round because red nail polish NEVER goes out of style.  The Complete Salon Manicure line is supposed to mimic salon results without the salon hassle with Vita-Care Technology, intended to increase wear time with more shine and care.  Okay, okay, I dig it, but does it really?  Take a look see....

Do you like?  As for the claims of its increased longevity I would have to agree, I've been wearing this for a week and a half and I have experienced little to minimal chipping and I almost forgot to switch up my colors because I had thought that it was done a week ago.  Needless to say I'm going to hold on for a few more days to make it an even two weeks, how neat is that?!

I really wish I would have taken a picture of the brush because it is thicker and shorter than most nail polish brushes and this is usual for polish lines to include a thicker and shorter bristled brush when introducing a "salon-like" line.  The purpose of this is for the polish to apply more evenly in fewer brush strokes.

I think Sally Hansen did it right again and I look forward to getting more polishes from this line, like I need another.

You Got Me Twisted....Twisted Pink

If any of you are familiar with 90s R&B then you probably remember Keith Sweat, ESPECIALLY, his hit Twisted.  If you don't know then click here to see and hear what I am talking about.  ;)

Anyway, that little tidbit is semi-relevant to today's post and that's because this nail color's name.  Yup, you can find me Diddy bopping, doing the da bounce, or the slow, rhythmic hand waving in the air type vibe when I wear this polish because the song plays over and over in my head.  LOL

The color for this week is brought to you by Sally Hansen in Twisted Pink.  An uber pretty summer nail color that reminds you of all things pretty and feminine for the season.  The pictures don't show the sparkles that are in the polish, but trust me, they're there.  :)  This is a cream finish and it took me two coats to get this vibrancy.  Like I've said before the wear on these polishes are amazing and that is why I continue to get more bottles.  Sounds like your fancy?  Take a look...

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Color-Twisted Pink

 Just in time for the spring, I would recommend this for those chill days at the park, pool, or anywhere else you frequent, lol.  You can easily find this at your local drugstore or Target, or WalMart, whatever is closer ;).

Cherry Red got that fye, fye...

I hope I didn't lose you all with my Florida lingo, LOL,  fye is like saying, "That's hot!" or "That's fire!"

Now that your lesson on Florida slang is over let's get to this week's nail color.  This week I decided to mix it up a bit by combining two products I've been obsessed with, you may already know what it is if you're a frequent reader of the blog.  That's right!  Sally Hansen color effects in Prep's Cool and Sally Hansen Hard as Nails nail polish in Cherry Red, let these colors speak for themselves....

POW!  Now that's a red color if you were ever looking for one, I could definitely say that this is my signature nail color, yup, I've been rocking this since high school, freshmen year!  ; )  Thank my mom for introducing me to such a color. 

Up next we have this print from Sally, I really didn't want to overdo the plaid print and use them all for my nails so I broke it up with the red polish.  I hope you enjoyed!

I'm Plaid About You-Sally Hansen

Once again I have retreated back to Sally Hansen's Salon Effects.  Despite what I think may be an allergic reaction to these things I always find them on clearance somewhere and I'm obliged to purchase, lol. Who could resist a good deal, I can't.  If you missed my initial review of these babies visit my first post about them here, for now take a look at what's new this week on ye nails. :)

Since I'm a fan of the color red it was only natural that I gravitate to this color.  I'm not too sure whether this print is still available since the whole clearance box that it was in was in this shade and another, so I'm guessing that the store was trying to get rid of it. 

If you're looking for the convenience of a no-dry nail color, these are right up your alley.  Their duration, however, is another gripe that I have with them but if it allows me not to wait for it to dry I'm willing to make the sacrifice.  Sally Hansen Salon Effects can be found at your local drugstore and at major chain markets like Wal-Mart or Target.

Make An Entrance with this!

After that Sally Hansen debacle I had to rush to put on another coat of one of my favorite nail polishes by China Glaze.  Make An Entrance has been a part of my nail color routine for a while now and I wanted to share with you just how pretty this color really is.  This is a very pretty raspberry color that applies smoothly for easy coating.  Typically with all of the China Glaze polishes that I own including Make An Entrance the polish is thin, some may not like this but I don't mind because it gives me more control of how much product I should apply for application.  It does have a cream finish and a quick dry time in my opinion. 

I decided to jazz the color up a notch by adding a top coat of Sally Hansen's Diamond Strength top coat in Diamonds.  This top coat adds a flair of silver grace over the cream raspberry finish that I adore.  I particularly like it because of the effect it has in the daylight, almost like a fairy dust minus the Tinkerbell costume. =)

Sally Hansen Salon Effects--Might Not Make It

Remember last week when we kicked the blog running with a post about the cool Salon Effects line from Sally Hansen?  I'm sure you do, well, it's been seven days and I was really trying to make it to ten days to since the packaged promised such but I could not!  LOL  As much as I liked the color I was NOT about walking these streets with chipped nail polish.  I do have a few things I woul like to share about these though so that you know what to look out for if you're interested.

First, let me start off by saying that the color was beautiful and I really appreciated the fact that I didn't have to worry about drying time which is a plus.  However, I could notice my nail chipping on the first day.  I guess you could say that I do alot with my hands but who doesn't?  Let's be more specific, that evening that I applied the product I had to cook and my nails were close to heat and I had remove the tray, fine, right?  No, the heat melted a tip of the nail polish, I haven't had that happen with my regular nail polish so I'm guessing that the product isn't that durable.

Second, around the fourth day of my manicure I noticed I had some skin peeling and I've never had that happen before with other polishes.  I'm going to go on a whim and say that I can possibly be allergic to an ingredient in this product in order for this to happen.  I take really good care of my nails and I didn't change that routine when using this product it's safe to say that I can attribute Salon Effects to that.

Overall, I would give this product a 2 out of 5 star rating.  The color is what really kept it on my nails for so long but other than it would have been off that first day. LOL  I would recommend these for a 2 day manicure though since they don't seem to hold up for too long which sucks.  I do intend on trying the designs that they have available from the same line sometime soon and I hope I can get different results.  We'll just have to wait and see.

Are You Red-y for Trouble?

Anyone that knows me well enough  knows that I always have my nails painted, reason being--I detest chipped nail polish, lol.  I change nail polish color every week to prevent the horror of looking down at my hands only to notice that the color has chipped.  This week I wanted to try something different, since I didn't want to stray too far from what I usually go with I decided to try out the Sally Hansen Salon Effects line of  "nail polish".  Since they were 75% off at CVS this week I decided to take it for a whirl and at $2.49 a pop how could I resist?

Take a look see at the product:

 Not bad, huh?  The product holds 16 nail strips, a nail file and a nail buffer that is divided on a miniature file, a cuticle pusher, and a set of instructions.

When I first opened the product I noticed a strong smell of well, nail polish, lol, I guess I was expecting it to not have scent considering that it isn't liquid--definitely not a problem.  I liked how it was packaged, well done, Sally.  Up next is a picture of my bare nails, the product advises that your nails are dry and free of oil.  Check!

I began applying the strips to my nails effortlessly until I had to switch hands.  Don't you just hate that?!  LOL  Anywho, upon applying it on my ring finger I noticed that I had put the wrong size strip, meaning the strip that I chose for my ring finger was actually supposed to be for my middle finger, boo to me!  Since I had already begun to rub the product onto my nail taking it off proved to be a task since I couldn't simply peel it off.  I would say that this is a good problem, this means that it won't easily come off, especially since it claims to last up to 10 days.  On to what I did to resolve the issue:

As you can see I tried peeling the strip off myself but that didn't work, then I tried using the cuticle stick that comes with product, NADA, so I had to resort to acetone.

Here's my poor little ring finger....but have no fear acetone is near!  You can purchase pure acetone from Sally's, that's where I normally get my bottle.  :)  Since this is pure acetone it has a tendency to make your hands dry which isn't necessarily a bad thing when using this product, just wash your hands before and dry them with a towel.  ;)   I went on to use a q-tip 1) because it is small enough so that I wouldn't ruin the polish on my left hand and 2) it fits into the hole of the bottle.  It was difficult to come off but again, this is a good problem.

Problem solved!  Now onto the end result.

Pretty, right?  I know!  The color is described as a red but I would probably lean towards a strong orange color.  The picture above is true to color and is beautiful when outside.  Since this is the first day I've had these on I can't speak for the staying power, I'll let you all know in 10 days, lol. I really like the color, not that original but hey still pretty.
