Makeup Ban!

Greetings!

Lately, I've been thinking about all the beauty purchases that I've been accumulating and have yet to use.  Yes, they are products that are lovely, but I don't even know if they're practical because I haven't had the chance to use them yet!  That's a problem.  So here's what I've decided to do.  In order to truly take my time in trying out these new products without jumping to the "next best thing" I'm going to go on a makeup ban, that's right, I won't be making any beauty purchases until November 30, 2012.  Yup, can you tell that I've prepared myself for this already?  LOL

I am a beauty lover and in order to maintain that zest for all things beauty I have got to start using my products more.  I am a firm believer in using all of my beauty products because I want to be able to indulge in them all, call it greedy if you want to.  I'm not in the business of buying products because they look pretty and never to be used again, NO, THANK YOU, MA'AM!  During this time off I'm going to use the items I currently have and my faves will make it to the blog, sounds like a deal?  Great!

For me this decision is difficult if you understand my affinity for the newest tube of lipstick or face primer, I am really going out on a limb to control my appetite for impulsive shopping but I am sure I can do it.  Now, just because I'm going through a "makeup fast" that doesn't mean I won't be blogging, of course I will, so don't be scurred!  LOL

Hopefully, by the end of this I will be able to see how much I have saved by keeping my money in my pocket and out of a beauty company's pockets.  And in the meantime, I'll finally have a chance to use some of the products I've been neglecting.

Have you tried this before?   Want to join in on this "makeup fast" with me?  Follow me on Twitter to join in on the fun!

Gunmetal.....On Your Nails!

Greetings!

Keeping in tune with the weather I figured I'd go with a gray/silver color on my nails this week.  The forecast predicts rain all week on my side of the U.S. and I might as well paint my nails accordingly, lol.  This color is in Gunmetal by, you guessed it, Sally Hansen!  If you don't know by now, please be informed that this line of polishes are my favorite and there's nothing you can do about that! :)

I also think that this color is great for the fall months.  An edgy color to wear with your "all black everything" days.  Oh, and remember, dark colors look awesome on short nails!  You didn't know?  You betta' ask somebody!

Don't mind the glob on the top, lol, there was an accident in my nail polish box.

Have you tried this color?  Do you like this color?  Tell me in the comments!

Black Opal Flawless Perfecting Concealer Swatch

Greetings!

I hope your weekend was awesome just as much as mine! :)

Today I come to you with a drugstore concealer that I came across on one of my many unplanned strolls through the beauty aisle of CVS.  Luckily for me I was able to find a gem from Black Opal Cosmetics, one my faves when it comes to drugstore brands.  If you know Black Opal then you know that for those of us with more oily skin it can be a pain to use, especially when it comes to their stick foundations.

Let's rewind a couple of years ago when I was an avid user of the stick foundation and loved the finish it provided but I had to stop using it because it would break me out on the edge of my jaw--no bueno!  I recently started using it again hoping that that breakout from years past was a reaction to something else in my routine at that time--not true, it's official, their stick foundation does not work for me. :(

Fast forward to a few weeks and I was intrigued to see the concealer.  Although, I haven't tried it yet for a look I will be soon as my normal everyday concealer is almost out and I'll need an alternative.  Rest assured that I will come back and report to you with a full review on its performance. And if I don't remind me on Twitter :)  For now, just take a look.

I purchased the shade in Mahogany which seems like a pretty good much when I need to cover any blemishes and my dark circles.  The texture is uber creamy which makes for easy application.  As you can tell the packaging resembles a lipstick tube, I quite like that because that means I don't have to dig my fingers for any product.  I'm looking at you MAC Studio Finish Concealer!

Let's cross our fingers and hope that this doesn't break me out!  By the way, have you tried this before?  Did you like it?  Tell me in the comments!

American Apparel can have you feeling Imperial!

Greetings!

Since it is unofficially the fall I felt it only necessary to bring you a change in nail colors.  Fall is all about darker and more alluring colors to bring in the colder temperatures.  American Apparel is starting to bring in competition to my beloved Sally Hansen nail colors but since I only have three that wouldn't be a fair assessment which means I have to get more!  LOL!

The color that I've decided to welcome fall with is Imperial Purple, a gorgeous deep purple that reminds you of everything, well, imperial, ;).  Take a look for yourself.

E.L.F. has finally won me over! Review of Loose Translucent Powder

Greetings!

If you follow my blog then you understand my relationship with E.L.F. products.  I have finally found a translucent powder that works well, heck, even better than my high end translucent powders and I must say I am surprisingly pleased.  For a product that only costs six dollars I was not expecting these kinds of results.  As you can tell from my last FOTD this product left my face seeming poreless!  I LOVE THAT! One of the things that I found to be different in this product in comparison to other loose translucent powders is how finely milled it is, sure other brands tell you that there's is also finely milled but not like E.L.F.'s!  It's almost like a powder and water mixture, literally.  It doesn't take a lot of product to get a desired finish but I tend to use a hefty amount because I am a very oily girl and I need to look matte in these streets! LOL!

It lasted all day on me without the need to touch up and when I got home my face was just as fresh as when I left home (just a tad oily on my nose but that's a good thing!).  Others may think that the packaging is bulky and inconvenient but I don't mind because I don't plan to haul it around with me in my purse.  It also comes with a cute powder puff inside to apply the powder.  I'm not a huge fan of powder puffs so I put mine away.

Another thing you must know is the amount of product release that comes out of the container.  Product comes out of the sifter and if you're not careful you can have a mess on your hands.  So in order to prevent that mess only cut the clear tape over the sifter half way, that way powder only comes out in a reasonable amount and not all over the packaging.  :)

I was able to score mine off a whim on the E.L.F. website for 6 bucks but I also know that these can be found at your local Target stores.  The shipping was prompt and the shipping costs were reasonable.

I also purchased a few other products that will be coming up in a post soon, so be on the look out!  :)

What do you think about E.L.F.?  Have you tried this product before?  Thoughts?

Tell Me How You Feel...Part 9

Greetings!

Woo-Hoo! for another post in today!  :)  Earlier this morning while watching the news Chris Brown seemed to be the topic of conversation over his new neck tattoo.  Now, I'm no Chris Brown fan so this was not news that I particularly cared for but since I was busy in the kitchen cooking up breakfast I had no choice but to watch what the hoopla was about.  Apparently, his new neck tattoo is the depiction of a battered woman resembling Rihanna.  Imagine the judgmental side-eye I gave to that comment!

At first glance I thought it resembled the comedy and tragedy masks, "Laugh Now, Cry Later" but on one face.  If you don't know what I'm referring to, here's an example...

Harmless, right?  That's what I thought!  But then the rumblings of the tattoo resembling Rihanna and him making light of the domestic abuse Rihanna pursued and I thought, "Wow!  Could everyone just be over analyzing the tattoo art?"  Maybe, but who am I to know the truth of why he got the tattoo in the first place.  To put things in perspective for you, here's a picture of Chris' new ink...

After chowing down on my breakfast whilst watching The Wendy Williams Show, by the way, this is one of my favorite talk shows as of late, Wendy made sure to spill the tea and stomp the pavement by getting Chris Brown's tattoo artist on the line.  The tattoo artist said that the new ink in no way was from Rihanna but instead from a picture that Chris Brown brought in on his cell phone.  What picture do you ask?  You know I have it for you...;)

Now, mind you, I see this picture on the daily on Tumblr, and with that being said it is a dope picture from some makeup artist from MAC that created this face chart for Mexico's Day of the Dead celebration.  With all this extra information I was able to eradicate the Rihanna resemblance banter from my mind and actually see the tattoo for what it is, another tattoo on Chris Brown's body.  That's all I really could conclude and that's all I really care to know.

I really want to know what you all think about the new ink on this pop star's neck.  Are you feeling it?  Do you think it looks like Rihanna or is it making light of the domestic dispute from two years ago?  Tell me in the comments, I want to know how you feel!
