On A Trip to Wet N Wild Land....

Okay, so the title of this post is a bit corny but that's okay, it's with good reason.  :)  The seasons have changed once again and that means in order to brighten up our sometimes dreary moods that accompany such change we can always look to our nails for a sunnier disposition.  Today I bring you another nail color from Wet N Wild cosmetics called On A Trip, a bluish-purple nail color that I've fallen in love with.  I love how it isn't neon but it is bright enough to be considered a fun color!  This is a gorgeous cream color that I would recommend to anyone on the market for a blue based purple, consider it blurple, lol.  Look for yourself!

Sinful Colors Has Got You Covered with Oasis

As you may already know, I never shy away from a pink nail color, pink lipstick?  Yes, but pink nail polish?  I'm all over it, KNOW ME.  Now that we've got that out of the way, let me introduce to you what's adorning my nails this week.

Sinful Colors is a drugstore brand that offers reasonably priced beauty products, my favorite from them are their nail colors because you can find an array of colors for $2 a piece, not bad.  I've never had a problem with the consistency changing in warmer temperatures so that's a plus.  The color is not unique but it is pretty so if you're in the market for a pink nail color, you should try this one out.

Zoya Nail Color in Dree--Color of the Week

I'm back again and this week I figured I'd go the more toned down route and wear a color that's more work appropriate and came across Zoya's Dree.  This is a subdued neutral based green that wears well and looks professional.  I love Zoya polishes because they last long and deliver a shiny finish without the need of a top coat, and did I mention how dry they fast too?

This is a cream finish and delivers fully opacity in two coats, the pictures above are two coats, no top coat!  Great, right?  I think so too.  You can find this color on Zoya's website for $8, not too shabby for a high quality polish like this one.  What are you waiting for?  Go get you one! 

New Nail Color of the Week--KleanColor Nail Lacquer in Pastel Teal

Did you miss me?  I said, DID. YOU. MISS. ME?!?  Remember that episode from Martin with Tommy Davidson?  If not, then you're probably too young.  LOL  Well, while I've already aged myself let me redirect your attention to what I'd like to refer to as a powder blue nail color, don't fret because the name throws me off too because it is not a bit of teal but don't worry, I've got you covered.  This IS powder blue, not teal.  Got it? Good.

I figured that since spring is here we ought to be rocking pretty pastels and this is one of them.  Check it out!

This color is a cream and reaches full opacity with two coats but I applied mine with three coats because I'm overzealous. :) If you're looking for something that definitely stands out in the crowd then this is your color, especially since it's springtime!  Go ahead and grab yourself a lily and start prancing around in your lace tops and pleated skirts, this color was made for you! 

The price ranges but it still remains pretty cheap, I got this as a gift but you can find these nail colors at Beauty Joint for $1.75!  Go ahead, and splurge and buy two, maybe three, or four.....

Essie Shop Til I Drop--The Name is Very Fitting

Greetings!

Anyone that knows me personally knows that I am a shopper, no surprise there, so it is only appropriate that Essie provide a nail color for us to commemorate this pastime.  Insert a beautiful peach color here:

This is the type of peach color I've been on the hunt for a while now and I am finally glad that I've found it!  It is quite sheer so it does take three coats to get it to this color shown, not a huge deal since Essie polishes dry relatively quickly which minimizes the overall drying time. 

I think it's safe to say that this is more of a spring/summer color but YOLO!  So go for it, it's good to break up the monotony of dark fall/winter colors, I won't tell.

OPI You Don't Know Jacques!

I love it when nail polish companies come up with clever names for their shades, I'm easily amused by this.  I see what you nail companies did there.  Since you all know that I've been wearing lots of dark colors on my nails lately this time it is no different, enter OPI.  This particular shade is matte, however, I chose to apply a top coat because I find that the matte formulas don't last and chip a day into wear but last so much longer when a top coat is applied.  This shade lasted a while on me, two weeks to be exact, now I normally don't let a color sit on my nails for longer than a week but because of the durability of this one I went for it, I was pleasantly surprised.

This color is pretty difficult to describe for me as it seems to take on a different shade in different angles so I made sure to capture that in the following images.  If we're looking at it in the packaging I'd say that it is a flat taupe color, but with flash indoors it looks like a flat grey almost wet cement color, and outdoors it takes on a very dark almost purple grey.  So take what you will with that information, lol.  Overall, the color is lovely and I would totally recommend it with short nails as darker colors always look more chic with short nails.

Trade In a Little Black for a Little Brown--Essie Little Brown Dress

For a while now I've been entertaining the idea of getting a dark brown nail polish but each time I went out it either was a forgotten thought or I just didn't care enough to search for it but I knew that when I stumbled across a nail color that matched the description in my mind that I would get it and that's what I did.  So today I bring you Essie-Little Brown Dress, a gorgeous dark brown cream color.  I applied two coats and the dry time was impressive--15 minutes tops!  This is my first Essie nail color and I am giving you all the most shady side eye for not informing me of the greatness in these tiny jars! lol  Oh well, I'm in and I just may go back and get some colors for the fall like I need anymore.

You can find this color at your local Ulta for $8 a pop, but since you all know I NEVER pay retail for nail polish I didn't pay that much! :)

Fiery Sunset on the Horizon

The weekend is over but hey, look on the bright side, my nail color! LOL

No, seriously, if you're a lover of pink nail polish then this color is right up your alley.  It's from Maybelline Salon Expert in the color Fiery Sunset, the name doesn't really correlate with the color but I'll roll with it. LOL

It's a creamy pink color, it took me two coats to get this opacity which is pretty average for me.  The brush is fine, not too big, not too small and the wear time was pretty durable, I kept this on for a week and a half with minimal chipping.

So go ahead and get a bottle from your local drugstore, you won't regret it.  Sure, you may have 1312318796894 other pink nail polishes but one more couldn't hurt.  ;)

Peach Crepe Anyone?

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and didn't miss me too much! :) 

This week I thought I'd add some color to my nails since I've been wearing so many dark colors lately.  I used China Glaze in Vintage Crepe and Sally Hansen Diamond Strength in Peach Pave.  Really simple and feminine, I like the way it turned out.  What do you think?

You can see that my China Glaze bottle is a mini size, I ordered a pack that came with a full collection, what collection, I don't remember but I'm pretty sure it is not limited edition.  If you can find this color you should snatch it up because it is one of those effortless colors that look super pretty on long or short nails.

I love what the Peach Pave does to the color, adds that glamour that we sometimes need during the week!  :)

American Apparel can have you feeling Imperial!

Since it is unofficially the fall I felt it only necessary to bring you a change in nail colors.  Fall is all about darker and more alluring colors to bring in the colder temperatures.  American Apparel is starting to bring in competition to my beloved Sally Hansen nail colors but since I only have three that wouldn't be a fair assessment which means I have to get more!  LOL!

The color that I've decided to welcome fall with is Imperial Purple, a gorgeous deep purple that reminds you of everything, well, imperial, ;).  Take a look for yourself.

Sephora by O.P.I. Keep Me on My Misletoes, Even in the Summertime

In case you all haven't noticed I have been writing as a beauty reviewer for The Style And Beauty Doctor lifestyle blog.  You can find me there sometimes reviewing the latest on what's hot and what's not too hot in beauty!  Recently, I was sent a nail polish to review that I am sure you all would LOVE!  Stand back and take a look at all this glory....

What we have here is a super metallic champagne gold color that is sure to capture the gaze of many this summer.  Metallics are definitely on trend for this summer as they serve as an elegant contrast to the soft pastels that we all will be wearing this summer.  It only took me two coats of application to get this opacity and the dry time was fairly quick, about 15 minutes.  I would totally recommend this color to be worn year round, not just in the summer or the obvious, at your Christmas parties this season!

Back to the Fuchsia!

Recently I took a trip to a place that shall remain unnamed until further notice, lol, and I was stuck in between a rock and a hard place because my nails from a previous manicure were chipping and you all know that I detest chipped nail polish.  Unfortunately, I did not bring ANY nail polish remover or nail polish with me, needless to say I was distraught.  :(  But thankfully for me I had a man friend in the city that was able to help me in this situation.  I told him to pick any color that he thought I would like.  Of course he chose a pink color....womp-womp!  I mean I do like pink but it's so typical, lol, then again he is a guy and I appreciate his efforts.  ;)  Enough of that, let's get to the nail polish.

Surprisingly, he purchased from the Sally Hansen Salon Manicure line, I could've sworn that I've seen this color before here but let's roll with it.  This pink does not have shimmer like the other one and I was intrigued.

Do you like?  I do, no shimmer, it is a cream finish, I used two coats to get this opacity.  Keep in mind that I did not use a top coat or a base coat and the color remained fresh for a week!  THIS is why I love Sally Hansen!

Come Here and be My Lavenbaby

I hope all is well with you all and that your week was spent being somewhat productive and that you're a step closer to whatever it is you're trying to get to.  All I can say is TGIF!  lol  For the most part one of the highlights of my week was this nail color, yeah, exciting, right?  What can I say?  I live a pretty mundane life.  J/K but not really. 

As of late I have really been into the pastel color trend when it comes to my polishes and this color is no different, in fact you may recall a similar lilac shade from this post, ok, now keep up, these colors are NOT the same, sure, they may look it but they really aren't, stay focused while I school you. 

See, the purple from the first post is a straight lilac shade, no interruptions in shade, just a light purple mixed with a white shade to form a lilac baby.  THIS particular lavender color by Kleancolor is a little more nuanced than your average and trust me, we all know I love a double themed color around these parts.  What's interesting about this color is that in some lighting it reflects a very faint blue color but that's only in person and I was not able to get it to translate on camera, however, the color is still gorgeous and I'm pretty sure you purple lovers will enjoy this shade just as much as I do.  :)  Enjoy!

Kleancolor-Lavenbaby

What do you all think?  Another hit?  I think so!  Kleancolor offers a wide variety of colors at very affordable prices, I think the most I've seen them are $2 on the internet.  You can find this brand at BeautyJoint at around that price.

As Blue as the Clouds?

Clouds aren't blue though, they're white?  Unless I'm missing something.  lol  Anyway this week I had to dig deep for this nail color because honestly I forgot I owned it.  I must have purchased this nail color back when I was in high school and back then I didn't wear nail polish much and when I did it was a light color, like this one.  What i didn't realize then is how gorgeous this color really is!  It is a duochrome color, which I love, the other color being purple under certain lights.  This polish is from NK, a brand that I'm used to seeing at local beauty supply stores in my city.  They're cheap and come in an array of colors.

So pretty, right?  I was really surprised that I turned out liking this color as much as I do because you know how it is, you dig something old up and realize why it was hidden for so long, but I'm glad to say that this was not the case with this gem!  The shade is in Cloud Blue and I would say that this is a pretty close representation of the sky rather than the clouds but still pretty nonetheless, lol.

Considering that this color is pretty old I'm not even sure that it's still made but I sure hope it is!

*EDIT:  I've looked all over the internet and can't find it!  :(  Hmmm.....perhaps a dupe for this could be lying somewhere in my collection, I'll make sure to report back with one soon.  :)*

Sun Worshiper by China Glaze--One of my Faves for the Summer

This week I decided to up the ante and showcase one of my favorite nail colors that I like to rock during the summer months because it is an eye catcher!  This neon orange/yellow color is borderline glow in the dark at night and eye straining during the day.  This is definitely one of those colors that you can wear while on vacation or on a night out on the town, or whenever if you're like me. :)  Enough of the small talk, let's get to the business.

China Glaze-Sun Worshiper

Cute, right?  Now this is a cream finish and goes on rather opaque when using a white nail polish as a base color.  I used two coats to get my preferred finish and I think it came out great.  I also decided to add some dazzle to my ring finger because I'm extra like that.  LOL  That color is Nicole by OPI, Brilliant Idea, and brilliant it is.  The brush was a dream to work with, not too thin and not too thick.  The brush delivers just the right amount of product in each stroke and I was able to reach full opacity with three coats, not bad considering it dries pretty quick.
