Tell Me How You Feel....Part 5

Greetings!

Let's assume that you're pretty knowledgeable about all things cosmetic, you're not a makeup artist but you know what color theory is, what undertones are, or what ingredients just aren't complementary to certain skin types.  I just described myself, LOL.  And like many other beauty mavens out there I'm pretty sure you are the one your friends go to when they're shopping for a new face powder or a new lip gloss, cool, right?  But what happens when cool goes wrong?!  When that friend is rejecting everything you suggest and you have no patience left to deal.

You would assume that since this individual has asked you to guide them into the right direction that they would at least listen to your ideas, right?  Granted, this person may not like everything that you consider the end all be all and that's perfectly fine, different strokes for different folks, but EVERYTHING!?  Not only do I find this to be a waste of time for you but also theirs because at a certain point you both will begin to feel like you were only asked to tag along for a play date.  You know, to play with different types of products you already have and to explain to your friend what it does....things like that.   *deep breath*

I may or may not have had to deal with this type of situation before but I know it happens ALL the time!  LOL

Has this happened to you before?  Tell me in the comments!

You Got Me Twisted....Twisted Pink

Greetings!

If any of you are familiar with 90s R&B then you probably remember Keith Sweat, ESPECIALLY, his hit Twisted.  If you don't know then click here to see and hear what I am talking about.  ;)

Anyway, that little tidbit is semi-relevant to today's post and that's because this nail color's name.  Yup, you can find me Diddy bopping, doing the da bounce, or the slow, rhythmic hand waving in the air type vibe when I wear this polish because the song plays over and over in my head.  LOL

The color for this week is brought to you by Sally Hansen in Twisted Pink.  An uber pretty summer nail color that reminds you of all things pretty and feminine for the season.  The pictures don't show the sparkles that are in the polish, but trust me, they're there.  :)  This is a cream finish and it took me two coats to get this vibrancy.  Like I've said before the wear on these polishes are amazing and that is why I continue to get more bottles.  Sounds like your fancy?  Take a look...

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Color-Twisted Pink

Just in time for the spring, I would recommend this for those chill days at the park, pool, or anywhere else you frequent, lol.  You can easily find this at your local drugstore or Target, or WalMart, whatever is closer ;).

What do you think?  Nice?  No?

NARS Liberte Blush-Swatches & Review

Greetings!

NARS does it again with another cheek color!  With the new Summer Collection now available I just had to jump at the opportunity of getting my hands on the newest blush addition.  It is to my knowledge that this blush is not limited edition and will be made permanent to the current line.  :)  When I first read the press release for this collection I knew that I would be getting just this blush because in my mind "burnished apricot" would look just lovely on deeper skin tones and if it didn't, well, that would be a fail.  Luckily for me, sight unseen, this blush is gorgeous!  See for yourself...

Just as the company describes it, it is a burnished apricot color that reads like the perfect combination of red and orange.  This blush is not matte but it might as well be because the slight shimmer that is apparent in the pan isn't so obvious when on the cheeks.  Here are swatches....

Isn't it pretty?!  At $28 a pop, it better be! NARS is well known for their blushes and this is no exception, the long wearing, luminescent, and pigmented blush truly delivers and will work for a variety of skin tones.

I also wanted to show you what it looks like applied with a blush brush....

In case you did not know, Liberte (with an accent on the e but my laptop does not have French capabilities so this will do, lol) means Freedom.  :)

This collection consists of 9 items, all of which contain variety that will suit your fancy, I am sure.  Currently NARS is offering FREE 2 day shipping, so go ahead, go nuts!

What do you think?  Will you be getting anything from this new collection?  Tell me in the comments.

Have you Tried This Yet? Jessica Simpson-Fancy Perfume

Greetings!

So lately I've been reaching for a certain fragrance that exudes warmth and sexiness with a surge of sweet aroma.  That's basically how I would describe Jessica Simpson's Fancy perfume.  Yes, this is the first fragrance that Simpson debuted in 2008 to many a surprise because those of us in the beauty world sure as heck were not expecting it to smell this yummy.   This best way I could describe this smell in words is as such:

Imagine going to a carnival at night with your "honey" and taking in all the scents from the sweet concoctions; cotton candy, caramel apples, funnel cakes, lollipops and mix that in with a mesquite fire burning from those delicious corn on the cobs.  Then take a deep breath to inhale a fresh breath of the brisk air of the night and combine that with the happiness you feel from being in that moment.

Yup, ALLADAT! lol  That's seriously how I feel when wearing this. ;)

Now let's get on to the product.  The size that I have is in 3.4oz. and I am sure that it is available in 1.7oz as well as in a small spritzer bottle in a gift pack that I am not too sure is still available in your local department store.  The top is a beautiful rose gold with ornate designs that is easy to come off and easy to put back on.
As for the actual bottle it sort of reminds me of a bottle of a certain liquor that shall remain nameless here, lol.

Jessica Simpson-Fancy
The box that it comes in is also a looker.  It's more so a pink and white ombre effect that centers into white with the same ornate designs that can be found on the actual product.

Jessica Simpson-Fancy
Here are a few mentions that I feel you should know before you start to venture out to purchase your own bottle:

Go out and smell it first!  To some this scent may be too strong and deter you from making that purchase, but I promise give it one spritz and that's all you need, it gets like overkill if your "spray happy".

This is an eau de parfum, so that means the scent is stronger and it lasts longer, so if you're into lighter scents, you may want to back away.

This is definitely a fall scent, however, you can easily make a spring/summer scent with just one spritz.  The objective here is to keep light and not funky.

The bottle is heavy, heavier than I am used to but that means it can also double as a paper weight.  :)

You may get hooked and buy the rest of her fragrances like I did!

Overall, I would recommend this scent one hundred times over to any and everyone!

So what do you think?  Yay or nay?

What the What? Victoria's Secret sells Lipsticks??

Greetings!

Recently while perusing at the mall on one of my "I'm not going shopping just to browse" escapades I stumbled into Victoria's Secret only to be bombarded with salespeople and a crowd of women purchasing underwear.  To say the least, I am not a huge fan of Victoria's Secret, not because I don't think the products are lame but because of the redundancy I come across when in the store.  But anyways that is beyond the scope of this post, lol.  For the most part I was beyond surprised when I was directed to the cosmetics department of the store......uhmmmm.......cosmetics?.....at Victoria's Secret?....I had NO IDEA! lol   I was pleasantly surprised and of course I took the liberty of seeing what could meet my fancy.  After swatching I decided on two "nude" lipsticks and I am in love with the texture, shade, hue and finish.

See for yourself:

Victoria's Secret Perfect Lipstick

What they say:  Rich, creamy formula drenches lips in lasting, full-coverage color and sheen. Rich color hydrates and conditions with shea butter and vitamin E. Domestic. .12 oz. (Source)

Two rectangle shaped tubes of pretty goodness AND they're moisturizing AND they come in 21 shades!

Left to Right: Scrumptious & Sweet Nothing

I picked up the shades Scrumptious and Sweet Nothing.

I love Scrumptious because it applies smoothly and leaves a creamy finish to the lips.  I would describe it as a cremesheen finish similar to those of MAC lipsticks.  No obvious scent which is appreciated.  It is a light peachy color that may or may not work for you depending on your skin tone but that's nothing a little lip liner can't help. :)  It can be built up for a more opaque finish or sheered out with just one swipe if you wish.  I like to go more opaque.

Sweet Nothing is a pink neutral shade that seriously matches any eye or cheek combo you decide to go for.  As I said before there is no obvious scent and the finish is just the same as Scrumptious.  Because these are so creamy and summertime is fast approaching I would not recommend you leave these in your car or in any other hot spaces for long periods of time for fear of them melting.

Here are swatches:

I think these lipsticks are a great buy for those in the market for a nice neutral lip.  I purchased mine for $13 USD each and I think that's a fair price.   They lasted for four hours on me before I had to reapply.

Now that I know Victoria's Secret has these gems inside I may be going in more often now. :)

When was the last time you went into Vicky's?  What did you get?  What do you think of these lipstick shades?  Yay or Nay?  Tell me in the comments.

Let's Get In the L'Espirit! by American Apparel

Greetings!

Another day, another nail color!  Now you all know that last week I was able to get my feet wet with a more subdued color but I felt that something was missing, a little color!  So this week I opted for a pastel color that doesn't impart too much brightness, just a fair lilac color to complement my brand new short nails, I'm still a little devastated that I had to cut them.  I purchased this nail color at American Apparel, one of my favorite stores when I'm looking for something vintage and a bit unexpected.  I happened across these on the display in front of the counter, that's how they get you! LOL They were 3 for $15 so I figured it wouldn't hurt to get a few and I was pretty sure that I didn't have a color like this already in my collection.

Take a look....

And you know I had to add a little jazz to it!  Check out my ring finger!  :)

Milani Jewel FX provides a spectacular finish but the application can be a pain.....review coming soon!  :)

Tell Me How You Feel....Part 4

Greetings!

Every season turns a new tide for the way we all dress, manicure our nails, and change up our cosmetic routine both in skincare and for aesthetics.  I, for the most part try to follow these trends but I don't limit myself to just these standards.  For the most part I really like seeing the dramatic change in what people are wearing and what new makeup looks to try.  I find that it offers people a new way to look at these aspects instead of remaining in the same box of whatever we are accustomed to.  I find joy in seeing what look people choose next but it gives me inspiration to try some variation or something completely different.  That's the joy of it all, you get to pick and choose.  :)

Runway shows are definitely an inspiration for me because these are the very first looks into what trends are hot for the next season, as I'm sure is the case for a lot of other people.  But now that I've gotten older I find that the "new" trends are really recycled if not from last year but from the year before.  Have any of you noticed that?  LOL  For instance, florals--every spring, bright colors--every summer, goth looks--every fall, and dark nail polish--every winter.....see what I did there?  I just put it all in perspective for you!  ;)  LOL

So, that 's my two cents on the topic, how do you feel about trends?  Do you follow them?  Do you avoid them?  What's your take?

Zoya-Erin Nail Polish

Greetings!

Happy Hump Day!  Today I come to you with a nail color that is out of my comfort zone but I want to try something different since the season is changing.  For most people this sort of change means diving into brighter or darker colors but for me it means trying more nail colors on the more subdued end of the color spectrum.  Since I had to cut my nails for practical reasons I have to write a long paper and my nails kept getting stuck in between the keys this past week  I figured I'd go for this neutral nail color since it looked pretty nice in the bottle.  Boy, did this surprise me!

On the first coat it was really sheer, so sheer that I thought that maybe it was the type of nail polish that is used to add a little sparkle sass to a brighter nail color.  After the first coat dried, I thought to myself, "try another coat" so I did and the coverage started getting better but not what I'm used to.  So on the third coat it finally came to the color that you see in the bottle and I'm pretty happy with it for the most part.

See for yourself....

Zoya-Erin
It's a very office friendly nail color and for those of you that aren't too keen on the typical neon brights that I post on the regular.

I would recommend this nail color especially for the springtime!  It's so pretty and feminine, it goes hand in hand with a soft floral print skirt and a pink lip....hmmmm, ideas, ideas!  :)

What do you think?  Yay or Nay?
